When we bought this house in 2002, we spent all our budget on space. The house was perfectly habitable, but we knew there was lots of work to do. Insulation, modernization, restoration, and lots of other "ations." We might have thought twice if we'd known just what we were taking on....

That picture of Dan looks like an illustration in a workplace safety manual - the 'not like this' pic. ;)
But the pipes... well, you already have gas... and water.. and three pipes is a puzzler. I'm off to mull this one over.
Lou, you are barking up the wrong tree. The copper pipes in the picture are central heating pipes and are in this case acting merely as a decoy. The ones Dan put in are not visible here but will attach to the plastic one. Any the wiser? Oh, and there is no mains gas in Culmstock.
Ah, you red-herringed me by saying you put in plastic as well as copper. Swine!
Ok, so it's either awesome cabling for super-super-fast broadband, or a aid to the migration path of the Lesser Culmstock Dormouse which needs to pass to your garden unhindered.
Or it's a giant house trombone to make Tibetan horns look puny. Gotcha!
Not just you, I red-herringed the WHOLE WORLD! and... what? Super fast broadband, in CULMSTOCK???? We've only just been connected to the electricity grid! Last week that was, 56 electrocutions in the village and counting.... Keep guessing....
